mHealth Grand Tour cycles from Brussels to Barcelona

The mHealth Grand Tour, under patronage of Commissioner Neelie Kroes (Digital Agenda for Europe), is a cycle ride with a difference. Going from Brussels to Barcelona in just 13 days, it is 2,100km long with more than 22,000 meters of climbs. However, it isn't just a bike ride - it is also the opportunity to help demonstrate innovative solutions to the challenges of managing diabetes.

Project video: Digital simulation of a child's heart for surgery

The EU funded Sim-e-Child project has developed a grid-enabled platform for large scale simulations in paediatric cardiology. This platform provides a collaborative environment for constructing and validating multi-scale and personalized models of a growing heart and vessels.

The objective of AAL (Ambient Assisted Living)is to facilitate the goal of "ageing well at home" through the use of Information and Communications Technologies (ICT). Main problems facing the AAL field currently are the diversity of proprietary and incompatible solutions that prevent interoperability and the development of a competitive market. The idea of universAAL project is to create an open platform for provision of AAL services, solving this problem. The webinar aims to introduce universAAL platform to end-users and related stakeholders and show them how to envision a near future involved with open and affordable AAL solutions. After this webinar, participants will know the possibilities and advantages of living in an AAL environment involving all needed stakeholders, from assisted persons to assistance providers and authorities around the open and "universal" AAL future platform.

Contribute to the Scenario Exercise on the ethics of ICT for Ageing - VALUE AGEING Project

The VALUE AGEING project is a 4‐year Marie Curie IAPP Action project funded by the European Commission’s FP7 programme that focuses on the incorporation of EU Fundamental Values and ethical considerations in ICT for ageing. It has carried out a Scenario Development Exercise on which it is now inviting public comments. The objective of the scenario is to demonstrate how scenario design and analysis are a valuable tool to identify specific technology areas in which social, ethical and fundamental right considerations are most required. The online public consultation is open from May 1st through May 31st, 2013.

Conference on e-procurement and e-invoicing in the EU

The European Commission is organising a conference on e-procurement and e-invoicing, two key tools contributing to the rationalisation of public expenditure and modernisation of public services. High level European policy-makers, academics, business representatives, contracting authorities and companies already using e-procurement and e-invoicing will discuss the impact of e-procurement and e-invoicing on making public administration more efficient, and how to best manage the transition in order to avoid any new barriers and exploit the full potential of process digitalisation.
