Tackling the demographic challenge to create growth and jobs - Commission proposal for a renewed Ambient Assisted Living Joint Programme (AAL JP)

The European Commission has proposed a follow up to the Ambient Assisted Living Joint Programme (AAL JP) for 2014 – 2020, to continue the success of the present programme in applied research for ageing well with ICT. The aim of the AAL JP is to support industry, in particular SME to bring digital innovative products and services for ageing well to the European market. Alignment with the European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing (EIP AHA) could further boost deployment at European scale.

E-skills — awareness-raising campaign

The objective of this service contract is to organise in 2014 a major communication and awareness-raising campaign in Europe on 'e-skills for jobs'. The duration of the campaign will cover the whole year. The main goal is to promote the EU long-term e-skills strategy to fill digital skills shortages, gaps and mismatches, to disseminate experiences and best practice and facilitate the mobilisation of stakeholders.

Tackling societal challenges with Social Collective Intelligence and ICT

The 2013 European Conference on ‘Tackling societal challenges with Social Collective Intelligence and ICT!’ is the final event of the Social-IST EU/FP7 project.


Organised by Sigma Orionis in collaboration with CREATE-NET and the University of Edinburgh, the conference aims to present the Social-IST main project outcomes (namely the White Paper on Research Challenges in Social Collective Intelligence and the Roadmap for FET Initiatives in Social Collective Intelligence) and to promote an open dialogue on how a new form of ICT can help us build a smarter society. The event will bring together more than 20 speakers, who will debate with the public scientific challenges brought forward by Social Collective Intelligence, its impact on various application domains and the community support needed to foster its development.

Dem@Care provides scholarships to attend Summer School on Crete

Workshop on Innovative Procurement for services and products for independent living and integrated care - 4 September 2013 - Bari, Puglia (IT)

Online consultation of the VALUE AGEING project on the ethics of ICT for ageing

The VALUE AGEING project (Incorporating European Fundamental Values into ICT for Ageing: A vital political, ethical, technological, and industrial challenge) is currently closing its fact-finding period, investigating various aspects of ICT for ageing. In order to gather extended feedback and consolidate scientific findings, a summary version of research reports will be made available for public consultation. The summary report of Work Package 2- ICT-Developments Impacting on Freedom and Autonomy of Older Citizens, and Work Package 4- Corporate Social Responsibility and Ethical Codes in ICT for Ageing is now open to extended online consultation until July 29, 2013.

Health 2.0 Conference and Digital Health Masterclass

This November, the Health 2.0 Europe conference will take place in London. It wants to take Health 2.0 initiatives to the next level. On the 20th, 50.000 euros in prize money will be awarded to eHealth businesses in the framework of a Digital Health Masterclass.

BBFC as a prime exemplar on self regulation - with a new role in protecting children from harmful content accessed on mobile devices

The Mobile Broadband Group is appointing the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) to take over from the Independent Mobile Classification Board (IMCB) in providing the independent framework that underpins the Mobile Operators' code of practice, established in 2004, for the self regulation of new forms of content on mobile.
