7 more regions tackle care integration

Seven more European regions turn to the challenge of providing better joined-up support to their older population, by bringing social care and healthcare services closer together. The BeyondSilos initiative is an EU co-funded pilot project that allows providers in seven European regions to implement and pilot integrated care services. Up to 10,000 people in Northern Ireland, Bulgaria, Spain, Italy, Portugal and Germany are expected to receive improved services by 2015. The services will be piloted and evaluated for a period of two years. A key role in the services will be played by different ICT tools (from home health monitoring to shared data records) that will be utilised to enable better cooperation between care professionals, family members and those receiving care.

EU Smart Ideation Challenges Launched

We are pleased to announce the launch of two EU Smart Ideation Challenges through InnoCentive. InnoCentive is the global leader in crowdsourcing innovation problems to the world’s smartest people who compete to provide ideas and solutions to important business, social, policy, scientific, and technical challenges. Challenges are a tool for crowdsourcing innovative answers and rewarding those who can best meet a defined problem. They represent an alternative method to traditional internal R&D and reward innovative solutions compared to past achievements (recognition prizes), or possible future work (grants). These two Ideation Challenges are an open call for proposals that provokes a global brainstorm to produce breakthrough ideas. Challenge 1 focuses on overcoming the current barriers for ICT enabled growth and jobs within the EU. Challenge 2 asks for innovative new business models and policies that can lead to high ICT-enabled economic growth rates and the creation of new jobs. Both Challenges are running for 30 days and opened on Monday (3/3). Each Challenge offers a $5,000 prize fund which can be split up to four ways, or given as one award. More information about the Challenges can be found here: Current Barriers and How to Overcome Them Business Model Innovation and Innovative Policies
