Meet the Pioneers at the Ageing Summit: the Cogknow DayNavigator

Cogknow Ltd is a spin off of a project that concluded in 2010 and that had been co-funded under the EU's Sixth Research Framework Programme. Cogknow will exhibit its pre-product DayNavigator. It is an integrated assistive device providing services that meet the often unmet needs of people with dementia, for memory support, maintaining social contacts, feeling secure and instrumental support for daily activities.

Meet the Pioneers at the Ageing Summit: Supporting navigation for older adults in public spaces: the DALi approach

Dali (an EU funded research project) supports the mobility of elderly in public spaces. It enables an elder person with mild cognitive problems to navigate, for example, a crowded shopping centre thanks to a "C-walker" - an assistive device that can recommend a path for the user.


EU supported films in Oscar race

Six of the films competing for an Oscar in 2015 have been supported by the EU's Creative Europe programme. The six films are in total honoured with ten Oscar nominations in seven categories. The winners of the 87th Annual Academy Awards will be announced on 22 February.

Meet the Pioneers at the Ageing Summit: the Basque Country, independent living with on line care

The Basque country is a three star Reference Site of the European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing, in recognition of its successful strategy for chronic conditions that generated a reduction of 38% in hospitalisation for highly complex cases and of 26% in emergency room visits. At its booth, the Basque country will be displaying two tools that are key components of its highly successful strategy for chronic conditions.


Meet the Pioneers at the Ageing Summit: Giraffplus project - the robot lets you in, even when you're not there

An EU-funded team has developed the GiraffPlus system; a robot that assists older people in their homes, connects them to family, friends and healthcare professionals, while wearable devices and sensors throughout the home keep an eye on the person's health and activities. The GiraffPlus booth will showcase the system and three of its components: the activity recognition, its ability to take physiological measures and the Giraff robot. Visitors will be able to see the latest version of Giraff, and also to try the activity recognition, take physiological measures and driving the Giraff in a home-like setup.
