ICT for Water Resources - Annual Cluster 2015 in Brussels

On the 19 of March 2015 the third cluster meeting related to "ICT water" took place. Ten FP7 and five H2020 projects participated. The event was co-organized with the EASME and was devoted to updating the "ICT water" roadmap.

Crowdsourcing on what are the new sources of ICT enabled growth and jobs to take into consideration in the follow-up to the Digital Agenda for Europe (SMART 2013/0046)

Final study report explores how examples of open innovation can be used to direct information and communications technology (ICT) public policy, two innovation Challenges were run as part of the project. A thought-leader workshop was then held to discuss the outcomes and implications of the Challenges, and explore how crowdsourcing can be more widely used in public policy and the potential for up-scaling.

Project URBAN-API application 3D scenarios now online

The urbanAPI project provides urban planners with the tools needed to actively analyse, plan and manage the urban environment. To this end, the project has developed 3D Scenario Creators that directly address the issue of stakeholder engagement in the planning process through the development and provision of enhanced virtual reality visualisations of neighbourhood development proposals.

ePolicy launches platform designed to support policy-makers in their decision making processes

The ePolicy interface will support policy makers in their decision process across a multi-disciplinary effort aimed at engineering the policy making life-cycle. For the first time, global and individual perspectives on the decision process are merged and integrated. The project focuses on regional planning and promotes the assessment of economic, social and environmental impacts during the policy making process (at both the global and individual levels).

Tourism benefits from a cultural heritage partnership between Europeana and Google’s Field Trip

Growing the Silver Economy Background Paper

Social Sciences and Humanities research are woven ever more closely into all of priorities and areas within Horizon 2020. This is not an end in itself but a way to address societal challenges adequately. European Summit on Innovation for Active and Healthy Ageing: Conclusions and next steps

The European Summit of Innovation for Active and Healthy Ageing took place in Brussels on March 9 and 10. Over 1200 visitors swamped the Brussels Square meeting centre, took part in over 32 sessions, workshops, sandpits and the Pioneer Village with its 20 exhibition booths. More than 20 start-ups presented themselves in the speakers' corner. Exhibitors and participants blogged and tweeted. Businesses found customers, investors discussed moving into the silver economy researchers met with consumers, patients with service-providers and visitors had encounters with robots. The summit attracted new categories of partners: investors, including social investors, but also representatives of the construction and tourism sector as well as designers joined the event to seize the European potential of the Silver Economy.

Open Market Consultation on the STOPandGO project’s European Specification Template

STOPand GO (Sustainable Technologies for Older People – Get Organised) is a Public Procurement of Innovative Solutions (PPI) Pilot project. The project began in April 2014 and will run for 36 months. The Whole System Demonstrator (WSD) showed that incorporating telehealth and telecare technology into care and cure services can lead to reductions in the need for people to access services, as well as improving their ability to live better lives in their own homes (e.g., quality of life).

REMPARK project final workshop

The goal of the REMPARK project has been to develop a Personal Health System (PHS) with closed loop detection, response and treatment capabilities for management of Parkinson's Disease patients. The project is organising this event to share the results achieved following three years of work. Both the technical and medical results will be presented during the workshop as well as the work carried out throughout the project.

Launch of an EU-wide repository of good practices supporting active and healthy ageing

To address the challenges posed by demographic change, European local and regional authorities, universities, civil society organisations and industries, have already developed and implemented a large number of initiatives in the fields of public services, healthcare, ICT, transport, housing, accessibility, and social participation. The AFE-INNOVNET Network has launched a Europe-wide repository set up to gather and share interesting initiatives and help make population ageing an opportunity for Europe's economic and social growth.
