This research aims to guide Member States in the development of long-term care strategies, which use technology-based services to enable older adults to continue living at home independently. These services use any kind of technology including ICT to empower clients to manage despite their frailties. The Work Plan 2015 of the 3rd Health Programme was published on 2 June 2015, and the call for proposals for projects under the 2015 work plan was published on 5 June 2015. The deadline for submissions is set for 15 September - 17:00 (Brussels time). The call includes support for the implementation and scaling up of good practices in the areas of integrated care, frailty prevention, adherence to medical plans and age-friendly communities, in line with the action plans of the European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing.

Bridging user needs to deployed applications of service robots - Call for papers

This workshop will be held during the International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems. The aim of this workshop is to provide a structured approach from user needs to the deployment of intelligent robot and system solutions to improve the quality of life of elders, impaired persons and everybody else by augmenting mobility, manipulation and cognitive capabilities of the users. Researchers are invited to submit either a 4-6 page paper or a 2 page extended abstract that relates to the workshop theme before 20th July 2015.

Digital skills: new national coalitions for Digital Jobs to be launched in Belgium, Cyprus, the Netherlands and the UK

4 new National Coalitions for Digital Skills and Jobs in Belgium, Cyprus, the Netherlands, and the UK were announced today at the Workshop Digital Skills for the Digital Single Market of the European Digital Assembly in Riga. There are now 12 national partnerships inspired by the EU's Grand Coalition for Digital Jobs, launched in 2013 to overcome the digital skills deficit in Europe. Digital skills and confidence are essential for everyone who wants to benefit from the opportunities offered by new technologies and the Digital Single Market (DSM). To boost the DSM, digital skills will be a key element of the European Commission's skills agenda. The Commission is also supporting the Grand Coalition and other initiatives such as the EU Code Week to boost digital skills. Also today in Riga, organisations including the BBC, CA Technologies, EMC Academic Alliance, the National College for Digital Skills and Google announced pledges to the EU Grand Coalition.

Focus on Animation
