Public stakeholder consultation on next phase of EU-US cooperation in eHealth/Health IT

The European Commission's DG CONNECT and the United States Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) have jointly updated a Roadmap that guides European and US cooperation on eHealth (Health Information Technologies*). Please have your say on the draft Roadmap.

The European Commission supports research and innovation on technologies to break down barriers for people with disabilities.

One in six people in the EU has a disability that ranges from mild to severe. This means around 80 million people are often prevented from taking fully part in society and the economy because of environmental or attitudinal barriers. ICT solutions can improve the lives of people with various abilities (with visual, cognitive or motor impairment). The European Commission is funding several ICT research and innovation projects, to help people with disabilities.

Main results of iStoppFalls project published

The main results of the EU-funded iStoppFalls project have been published in the European Review of Aging and Physical Activity (EURAPA). The primary aim of the project was to develop and evaluate innovative home-based technologies for continuous monitoring and prevention of falls risk in older people.

New Machine 2 Machine Standard for Smart Appliances introduced by European Telecommunications Standards Institute and European Commission

The European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) published a new Machine 2 machine standard for smart appliances based on a reference ontology called SAREF (Smart Appliances Reference Ontology) developed by the European Commission, ETSI and TNO (Toegepast-Natuurwetenschappelijk Onderzoek).

Call for expression of interest: eHealth Stakeholder Group members
