New Europeana Collections site brings people closer to culture

Europeana is the EU digital platform for cultural heritage, collecting and providing online access to tens of millions of digitised items from libraries, archives, audiovisual collections and museums across Europe.

eIDAS stakeholder event - eID: emerging business cases - Boosting uptake

Where do we stand with the cross border use of eID in our daily transactions? What are the steps still to be taken to ease the use and accelerate the uptake of eID by people, businesses and public administrations? What are sector specific challenges to fully reap the benefits of eID under the eIDAS Regulation? These issues will be addressed one year after a high-level event with business representatives from economically vital sectors to put in motion and promote the uptake of eID under eIDAS.

READi for Health project: EU regions paving the way for better eHealth deployment

The EU-funded READi for Health project has brought together four European regions - Skne (Sweden), Oulu (Finland), Murcia (Spain) and Midi-Pyrenees (France) - to pave the way for a better uptake of eHealth. They identified unmet needs, the ones who have to tackle them and through which channels.

New EU working group aims to draft guidelines to improve mHealth apps data quality

The Commission has set up a working group to develop guidelines for assessing the validity and reliability of the data that health apps collect and process. Based on their expertise, 20 members representing civil society, research and industry organisations were selected to participate in the working group. The guidelines are expected to be published by the end of this year.

e-Signatures & e-Seals Opportunities and Challenges

From 1 July 2016 the rules related to trust services (such as eSignatures, eSeals, eTime stamps, e-registered delivery and website authentication) under the eIDAS Regulation will come into effect. EEMA, the European association for identity and security is holding a one day workshop, in collaboration with the European Commission, to better understand the perspectives of the use of eSignature and eSeals in Europe.

Guidance on the utilization of the Monitoring and Assessment Framework for the European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing (MAFEIP)

The MAFEIP tool was originally developed in order to monitor the impact of the European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing towards its objectives but is of interest to just about any project promoter as it allows them to perform an early and iterative assessment of innovations' cost-effectiveness at various stages of the development process. MAFEIP supports informed decisions about the future design of technology choices. By reducing uncertainty, MAFEIP represents a clear support to the decision-making process.

New record for the EU Code Week: more than half a million people took part in 2015

Almost 570,000 people cross Europe and beyond learned to create with code during EU Code Week that took place from 10 to 18 October 2015.
