EU-funded project Carewell finalist of the "Quality Innovation of the Year" 2015 Award

Within the Carewell project a new integrated care model aimed at complex chronic and multiple comorbidity patients has been defined, implemented and validated. The purpose of this study was to improve the quality of life for these patients and their carers through the implementation of new care pathways thus achieving improved co-ordination and communication with the staff involved. The “Quality Innovation of the Year” awards aim at promoting the creation and development of innovative products, technology or organisational processes at European level.

Europe's emergency number 112 known by half of Europeans : EC acts to inform young travellers

Today, 11th February is European 112 Day, a day aimed at raising public awareness of Europe's emergency number, 112. This year in August will be 25 years since 112 number was introduced, yet a survey shows that only half (48%) of EU citizens could spontaneously identify 112 as the number that allows them to call the police, fire brigade or medical services anywhere in the EU at no cost.

EU-funded films compete for awards at the Berlinale

The Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale) opens its doors on February 11th with the participation of 20 EU-funded films, 5 of which are shortlisted for the Golden and Silver Bears. The Berlinale also includes a showcase event presenting projects funded by the Creative Europe MEDIA programme; the European Film Forum, discussions between EU policymakers and the audiovisual industry. Commissoiner Oettinger will announce events to mark the 25th anniversary of the years of the MEDIA programme.
