Country-specific factsheets on the national audiovisual industries in Europe

On the occasion of 25 years of the MEDIA programme, 30 factsheets covering the EU countries as well as Norway and Iceland have been produced to give account of the diversity and the success of European filmmaking since 1991. They underline the key role played by the MEDIA programme in making successes happen.

Study on Preparatory action “ERASMUS for journalists” and "Statistical review of journalism and media sector in the European Union"

In 2009, the European Parliament suggested a preparatory action for a new EU programme provisionally called "Erasmus for journalists". The working hypothesis behind the proposal was that a journalists' mobility scheme could boost media pluralism. Following this suggestion, the European Commission launched a feasibility study to explore the practicalities and the potential impacts of such a programme.

22 films supported by Creative Europe MEDIA screened in Cannes

Cannes Film Festival as well as its parallel events - Directors' Fortnight and Semaine de la Critique - will present 22 films supported by Creative Europe MEDIA, starting on Wednesday 11 until Sunday 22 May 2016. In the Official Competition, which includes 21 entries, 9 of the MEDIA films will be competing for the Palme d'Or. Overall, €2.1 million were invested in these European works

Commission welcomes agreement to make public sector websites and apps more accessible

Negotiators of the European Parliament, the Council and the Commission agreed on the first EU-wide rules to make the websites and mobile apps of public sector bodies more accessible, especially for the blind, the deaf and the hard of hearing.

25 years of MEDIA: launch of anniversary campaign in Cannes with European filmmakers
